Mexican Auto Insurance Online FAQs

When should I purchase trip insurance?

You can purchase trip insurance to protect your trip up until the day of departure but it is best to purchase in advance to take advantage of all the plan has to offer. If you choose the Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) option, it must be purchased within 14 days of the initial payment or trip deposit.

What do I need to purchase a plan?

Before you start the process you need the personal information (name, date of birth) of all travelers you will be adding to the plan, your trip details (dates of travel, destination, and initial deposit date), and the total cost of your trip, per person, that is listed on the invoice or itinerary of your trip.

What do I include for trip costs?

Trip costs are the non-refundable costs that would be lost if you had to cancel your trip. These may include non-refundable cancellation charges imposed but your travel company, or perhaps airfare cancellation charges.

What are reasons that are covered under the trip cancellation policy?

While each plan may vary, most plans cover unforeseen events such as you or a family member becoming ill prior to travel, loss of a family member or travelling companion, loss of a job, work relocation, unforeseen military call to duty, loss or illness of a family pet, a natural disaster at home or the travel destination, and more. You can review all the reasons in the specific plan you choose.

Can I add non-family members to my plan?

Yes, so long as you reside in the same state. If your travel companion lives in a different state, they will need to purchase their own plan.

What does the initial deposit date mean?

The initial deposit date is the day you made your first payment towards your trip, be it a flight, hotel reservation, cruise, tour, etc.

How does the Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) plan work?

The Cancel For Any Reason plan offers partial reimbursement coverage (up to 75% of your trip costs) when you cancel a non-refundable trip for any reason not covered by your trip insurance policy. CFAR coverage must be purchased within 14 days of your initial payment or trip deposit. Each states vary so see your plan when selecting this option. This is not an option in WA or NY.

Can I purchase a plan if I have a pre-existing condition?

Yes, however some exclusions may apply so review the individual plans for details.
